Happy Birthday to me, happy birthday to me...okay, that's enough. I love birthdays. It's great to celebrate life and mortality. I'm having a great day. My neice, Kayla, gave me flowers last night. They are beautiful and smell great. I believe they are a type of rose. My other neice, Jessica, gave me a great present, too. She spent the day with me yesterday and slept overnight to spend the morning hanging out here in the camper and on the beach. We just got back from a walk where we saw seals, birds, and squirrels. Lovely!

There is a great view of Mugu Rock out my window. This shot was taken from the end of the road overlooking the tidal inlet where the seals like to play. There were seals playing earlier in the morning, but I didn't have my camera with me. When I went back for photos, the seals were mostly resting and I was only able to get the one shot below of one in the water.

I guess when the tide gets low, the seals tend to either rest on the beach or head out to the ocean. Jessica was walking with me at the time and she patiently waited with the dogs while I hoped to catch the seal doing something cute. He just didn't want to cooperate and just swam around staring at me. Perhaps he was really watching the dogs behind me.

The seals resting on the beach seemed to be soaking up the sun. My time for laying in the sun came later, after taking Jessica to work. For lunch on my birthday, I opted for a Dairy Queen blizzard (strawberry cheesecake flavor).

As always, the pelicans were a hoot to watch. This particular pelican flew back and forth in front of me a few times before choosing to dive down into the water. He must have missed his target because he took right back off and flew further down the beach.

This afternoon I took a dip in the ocean and tried to boogie board on the small waves. I decided to call it quits after a few attempts and stumbled back to my beach towel next to Gerry to warm up my freezing skin and enjoy the sun. I'm now showered and ready to go celebrate my birthday with my family. It's off to my mom's for my birthday party.
